BIRKENSTOCK 1774 x SFTM

Taking its name from the origin year of BIRKENSTOCK’s tradition in shoemaking, 1774 is an exclusive line that showcases creative collaboration. 1774 unites BIRKENSTOCK’s, expertise, supreme quality and storied craftsmanship with like-minded brands who share a mutual passion for design and the creative process. Every 1774 product is made in BIKRENSTOCK’s German workshops from specially sourced materials. Located in Paris, 1774’s showroom and headquarters serves as a hub to connect with global creative talent and push the boundaries of a true heritage icon.

BIRKENSTOCK meets Song for the Mute. A label defined by its tactile language, its raw sensibility, and its narrative-driven approach to garment construction. At the core of the collaboration is not a singular product, but an idea: footwear and clothing as extensions of identity. Pieces that are not simply worn, but shaped over time through use, process, and personal context.

The collection unfolds through four distinct characters: The Artist, The Rebel, The Gardener, and The Collector. Each one defined through silhouette, material, and attitude.

The Artist exists within process. Marked surfaces, visible wear, a sense of immediacy. Paired with a reworked London silhouette, where paint-splattered suede mirrors the environment it originates from.

The Rebel is sharper, more controlled. Clean lines meet deliberate contrast. The Paris silhouette in black pony hair introduces tension — restrained, but unmistakably assertive.

The (Collector) Amsterdam silhouette in polished black leather reflects this perspective with quiet precision.

What connects these archetypes is a shared understanding of material and purpose. Nothing feels pristine in a conventional sense and everything carries the impression of having already existed. Worn, adapted, and made personal.

Featured throughout the editorial is Arkadius. A 20-year-old creative from Sylt, already active within the fashion space with a growing number of bookings. There is a certain ease in the way he wears the product, entirely aligned with its intention, so that the materials, the silhouettes, and the underlying character of the BIRKENSTOCK x Song for the Mute collaboration are brought to life perfectly. A casting choice that allows the product to fully express itself.

This narrative continues within the campaign. The characters are not staged, but observed. Objects are used, not arranged. Garments are worn, not performed.
